Lightroom's Darkest Editing Secret for Stunning Fall Colors

Peak fall color only lasts a few short days, and if you've ever tried to time it perfectly you know how easy it is to miss. In this video, I'll show you Lightroom's darkest editing secret for making fall colors pop, even if you showed up too early when the leaves were still green or too late then they'd already started to fade. Using a few simple, but powerful tools in the Calibration and Color Mixer section, you'll learn how to transform dull, flat RAW files into vibrant fall images that look like they were captured at peak fall color.

The Truth About JPEGs Nobody Tells You

Most photographers already know that shooting in RAW gives you more editing flexibility, but just how much better is it, really? In this video, I put it to the test with two identical photos I captured during my Colorado Fall workshop, one in RAW and one in JPEG, both straight out of my Nikon Z8 - and the results might surprise you more than you think. I'll edit the RAW file first, then copy the exact edits over to the JPEG to see how much detail, color, dynamic range you actually lose in the process.

πŸ€“ PHOTO NERDS

  • πŸ“Έ The 1st digital camera weighed 4 times more than a modern DSLR coming in at a whopping 8 pounds!
  • πŸ’» The Knoll brothers created a piece of software in 1987 called ImagePro. Adobe purchased this & created what we now know to be Photoshop. Version 1 was released in 1990 and was for Macintosh only.

✨ INSPO

"If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures." - Don McCulli
"Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst." - Henri Cartier-Bresson

🌳 FINAL WORD

P.S. The 2025 Photography Bundle is gone forever in 48 hrs on October 21st. Don't miss your chance to grab the bundle, my new course and my complete bonus pack.

➑️ This only happens once a year, and it's been amazing seeing so many of you jump in already. I can't wait for you to dig into my new course!

Hello, my friend! We're officially in that strange season where the big color is gone, the holidays are coming fast, and it can feel tempting to shelve the camera until next year. It's easy to assume the best moments are over, but some of my favorite photographs come from these quiet transition days when the light sits low, and the winter air sharpens. I hope you find some useful information in this edition of The Morning Blaze and as always thanks so much...
